Day 3 Crescent City to Novato CA - 364 miles, 585km

The fog ruled today!  We started out with a cool foggy day, so moist that the water was building up and beading on the windshields.  We traveled the 101 to Legett and then dove over to the highway 1 which runs mostly down the coast, but all we could see was fog for 90% of the day..

Getting ready to leave the hotel in the morning..

The view on the road early in the morning as we headed out of town

At this pint we were down to about 20mph on the highway as we could not see far enough to drive any faster..

Getting a little better!

A short video of  some of the first 22 miles of Highway 1..taken by Linda as they followed me..

And another short clip..

We followed inland a bit and took the Avenue of the Giants which runs beside the 101 but.... through the redwood forest.. lost the fog in this area as it was farther inland..

Then back to the coast where we saw some ocean.. then the fog drifted in again...

We are now in Novato and it's 28 degrees C.. so time for a dip in the pool!

  1. Is that the road we had to turn back on because of the forest fires?

  2. No Rog, we dove that section the next day, and did not have to turn around this time! Traffic was great through a lot of the way, but still a few bottlenecks here and there
